President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife, Emine Erdoğan, was awarded the “Waste Wise Cities Global Champion ( Smart Cities Global Champion in the Field of Waste)” award was given.
Supporting UN Habitat’s Smart Cities in the Waste Area initiative, contributing to the announcement of the initiative through social media, press releases and events, active participation in the activities to be organized within the scope of the initiative, “World Urban Forum” and the UN General Assembly The award, which includes elements such as participation in high-level meetings, was given to Emine Erdoğan for the first time.
In her speech at the ceremony, First Lady Erdoğan stated that UN-Habitat Executive Director Sharif visited Turkey for the first time and said, “They are an urban planner and a successful former mayor, a very valuable person who has accomplished important things in her field. It is my great pleasure to welcome you here. I believe that her visit to our country and her contact with our institutions will bring brand new fruits.”
